Alice Lee Friend, 90, of Cresaptown, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, and went to be with her Lord and Savior at her daughter's home in Louisiana with her daughter by her side.
Born Dec. 21, 1927, in Mount Savage, Mrs. Friend was the daughter of the late Mervin Uhl and Katie (Geary) Uhl. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold B. Friend Jr.; a granddaughter, Shanna Marie Redmond; and a son-in-law, Russ Miller. Alice was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Alice graduated from high school in Mt Savage and was employed at Queen City Dairy where she met her beloved husband, married, and became a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Cresaptown, where she served for many years taking care of children.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Friend, Cresaptown, and Patty Miller, Gonzales, La.; and her son, Harold "Hal" Friend, Chicago, Ill. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kristal Shook and husband, Jason, Michelle Shelton and husband, Brett, Danielle Lasher and fiancé, Brock Shriver, and Patricia Friend; her great-grandchildren, Alexander, Caroline, and Harrison Shook, and Kyleigh, Brielle and Steele Shelton, and Savannah and Jackson Bosley, and Kelley Shriver; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted after the visitation at 7 p.m. with Alice's nephew, Pastor Merv Uhl, officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
