Alvin "Butch"'s Story
Alvin P. "Butch" Lepley, Jr., 71, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at his home.
Born April 2, 1946, in Cumberland, Mr. Lepley was the son of the late Alvin Paul Lepley, Sr., and Audrey Aileen (Clarkson) Lepley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, L. Janet Lepley, 2013.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1964, Butch was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and retired from the Allegany County Detention Center and the Kelly-Springfield Rubber and Tire Company. He also served as Bailiff at the Allegany County Circuit Court. Butch was an avid basketball and softball player in various local leagues and loved his Harleys.
Butch is survived by his daughter, Tambi Drees and husband, David, Frederick; his brother, Jerry Lepley and wife, Janet, Cumberland; a special nephew, Brian Lepley and wife, Pam, Cumberland; his special friend, Nancy Malcolm; as well as several nieces.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Dr. Chris Gobrecht officiating.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Butch's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 108 Byte Drive, Suite #103, Frederick, MD 21702.
