Anna's Story

Anna May Porta, 78, of Flintstone, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 29, 1939, in Altoona, Pa., Mrs. Porta was the daughter of the late Warren David Mosey and Mary Margaret (Pfahler) Mosey.
A homemaker, Anna May was president of the PTA, a substitute teacher, and a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department with 20 years of service and former Fire Department President and Ambulance Officer. Anna May was an avid bingo player, card player, and would frequent yard sales.
Anna May is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul Porta; her children, Mark Porta and wife, K, Jessup; Jeff Porta and John Wilt, LaVale; and Troy Porta and wife, Stephanie, Ellicott City. She also leaves behind her brother, Daniel Mosey and wife, Doris; her sister, Leona Smith, all of Altoona, Pa.; as well as five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her companion, Lulu, the cat.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Patricia Bittner officiating.
Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center's Hospice Unit, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502, or the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 105, Flintstone, MD 21530.
