Barbara's Story

On Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 7:40 p.m. Barbara Susan (Everett) Ricewick Kerns ,75, of Romney, fondly known as "Susie" entered into the presence of her Lord with her son Allen and daughter in law Alice by her side at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, Md. Susie was born March 16, 1942, in Springfield, to the late Harley Thornton Everett and Bertie Flora "Floe" (Hartman) Everett.
Besides her parents, Susie is preceded in death by her first husband and father of her two children, Charles Blake "Chub" Ricewick; One brother, Charles E. "Chuck" Everett; and infant sister, Betty Jo Everett.
Susie is survived by her husband, Harry H. Kerns; Her son, Allen Blake Ricewick and wife Alice of Severn, Md.; her daughter, Trina Sue (Ricewick) Wimer and husband Gary of Petersburg; Six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nicole (Ricewick) Shinn and husband Gregory, Sean Michael Ricewick, Ashlyn Marie Ricewick, all of Severn, Md., and Marissa Dawn Ratcliff, Jacob Conway Blake Whetzel, and Gunner William Pratt, all of Petersburg; three great-grandchildren, Blake Taylor Shinn, Addison Lilliannah Shinn, and Savannah Belle Shinn, all of Severn, Md.; her sister, Willa Maxine Livengood of Romney; her brother, Robert E. Everett and wife Barbara of Springfield; her sister-in-law, Joann Everett of Gilmore, Md.; a special niece, Sandra Hines of Romney,; special sister and cousin, Lydia Dennison of Springfield. Susie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Susie had been a private "in home" sitter for the elderly in both Hampshire and Mineral Counties. Born and raised in Springfield, she belonged to the Springfield Assembly of God and later the Community Bible Assembly of God on Poland Hollow Rd. where she played the piano. Susie was laid to rest in the Everett Family Plot at Ebenezer Cemetery in Romney.
A Celebration of Life for Susie will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Springfield Assembly of God Church, 9367 Cumberland Road, Springfield, W.Va. 26763.
