Bettie Louise Washington, 79, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at her home.
Born May 16, 1938, in Cumberland, Bettie was the daughter of the late Thomas Smith Sr. and Alphoretta (Rhodes) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Bubby" Washington, and her brother, Thomas Smith Jr.
Bettie was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1958, and was formerly employed at Sacred Heart Hospital as a geriatric aide. She was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, local NAACP, and Henry Hart Post 1411 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Bettie is survived by her son, Terrance Smith and fiancée, Sondra McDaniel; and her grandchildren, TeAndra Smith and spouse, Amy Smith, and Alivia Smith, all of Cumberland. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Susan Raiford, Yonkers, N.Y.; her brother, Eugene Frazier, Cumberland; her great-niece, Katelyn Davis; special friends, Carol, Mary Lou, Betty, and numerous others.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St. (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alfred Deas Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
