THOMAS, W.Va. Betty Lou Watring, 91, of Thomas, passed away peacefully from this earth on Feb. 21st, 2018, at Piney Valley Rehabilitation Nursing Facility and into her Heavenly Father's arms with family members by her side.
She was born Feb. 10th, 1927, in Shaw. The daughter of the late Melker Mayles and Nevada Stalnaker Mayles. She was the last surviving member of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Watring Sr.; three sisters, Eloise, Nilda, and Nadine; and one brother, Lyle.
She was a homemaker who shared much love with her family and all who entered her home. She loved sharing coffee and food with all who stopped to visit. She was a member of the Thomas United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing her piano by ear, reading her Bible, crocheting, baking bread, and chatting about life. Betty Lou will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by three sons, Edward (Patricia) Watring, Capon Bridge, Elmer (Sandra) Watring Jr., Parsons, and Rodney (Linda) Watring, Gerrardstown. Betty Lou was blessed with eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She also has several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Pam DeLoach, who helped care for her until the end of her earthly journey.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Garrett Regional Medical Center and Piney Valley Rehab Nursing Staff for the excellent care provided to our Mom and Grandma until she took her last breath and peacefully entered Heavens Gates Singing with Angels.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Saturday, Feb. 24th, from noon to 3 p.m.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation, starting at 3 p.m. with Rev. Neil Parsons officiating.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
