BITTINGER Beulah Izetta Moon, 97, of Bittinger, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at her residence.
Born Nov. 14, 1919, in Bittinger, she was the daughter of the late W. Edward & Bertha Ellen "Bess" (Wiley) Buckel. Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her former husband, Milton Moon; seven brothers, Vernon Wiley, Blake, Blair, Richard, Max, David & Robert Buckel; four sisters, Ferne Beachy, June Green, Ruby Orendorf and Jo Ellen Graham.
Mrs. Moon was a homemaker and a graduate of Grantsville High School and worked at the Celanese Corp., Cumberland. She married and raised her family in LaVale & Cresaptown, and returned home to Bittinger, to care for her aging mother.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, WELCA, Bittinger Homemakers, Bittinger Firemen's Auxiliary and also a member and tutor with the Literacy Council of Garrett County, founding member, charter board member and volunteer with the Highland Thrift Shop for many years. Mrs. Moon also worked for Associated Catholic Charities. She enjoyed many hobbies, crafts, ceramics, quilting, crocheting, macrame, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and especially loved to read.
Most of all, she loved God & her family. Grandchildren were always special. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her family and friends in the community for their out-pouring of love and assistance during her illness.
Surviving are three sons, G. Bradford & wife, Nan, Bittinger, Larry & wife, Ellen, Finzel, Jay & wife, Charlene, Frostburg; nine grandchildren, John (Ross) Moon, James (Hyun Joo) Moon, Jesseca (Matthew) Anderson, Jacob (Danielle) Moon, Amy, David, Steven & Annie Moon & Erin Weaver; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin & Seamus; two sisters-in-law, Joanne & Bee Buckel, one brother-in-law, Donald Graham and many nieces & nephews, all of whom she loved.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at noon with the Rev. Seminarian Tyler Graham officiating.
Interment will be in the Bittinger Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service for an additional viewing.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice of Garrett County or Meals on Wheels.
