Blanche's Story

KEYSER, W.Va. Blanche M. (Imes) Shaner, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser, after an extended illness. She spent the majority of her life in Cumberland and Ellerslie with her late husband, Harold (Buddy) Shaner. They attended Calvary Bible Church in Ellerslie.
Blanche was born April 21, 1941, in Mount Savage. She was the daughter of Thomas Forrest Imes and Viola Ruth (Gordon) Imes. She was known to all as a hard worker, who was kind hearted and would help anyone in need. She loved riding her bicycle on the canal with her friend, Barbara, shopping and visiting friends. She worked briefly for the Cumberland County Club before becoming a stay-at-home mother, then later worked at the Cumberland Times-News with her husband, Buddy, and daughter, Tammy.
She is survived by one sister, Sally Cutter, of Frostburg; three daughters, Sharon Shaffer of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Karen (Shaffer) Deala (Jay) of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Tammy (Shaner) Claus (Robert) of Keyser. She has four grandchildren.
Services will be at Smith Funeral Home in Keyser, on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. Service 11 a.m. at Biser Cemetery.
