Bonnie Kay Roby

August 05, 1945 - October 07, 2018

Bonnie Kay Roby, 73, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1945, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert K. and Mary K. (Oates) Nesbit. She was also preceded in death by her loving grandmother, Angie Mary "Greatty" (Ravenscroft) Oates, and her nephew, William G. Brown II.
Bonnie was a 1963 graduate of Allegany High School. She enjoyed going to her high school reunions, attending her 2018 reunion just this summer, her 55th. She loved seeing her old classmate friends very much, spending time catching up, and taking a group class picture at each reunion with all of them together.
She was employed at a variety of businesses, her first job out of high school being at the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, D.C. She also worked at Cumberland Cloak and Suit Store, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Kelly Springfield Tire Company and Sacred Heart Hospital. When she got older, she worked at Sunshine Center Laundry (just like her mother), Wal-Mart, and the last several years, Bon-Ton, until it closed this summer. She worked there for more than 10 years and was very sad to see her store close.
She was a hard, dedicated worker; and even when sick, she would do her best to make it. She worked until she was 73 years old. Her mother worked full time until she was 78. Bonnie stated she would never be able to work that long, but she was very close.
Bonnie enjoyed her grandchildren most of all. She loved to cook big holiday dinners. She enjoyed traveling, her vacations at the beach, and her weekly card games with her lady friends. She loved to laugh and have fun. Her beautiful blue eyes and beautiful smile lit up the world when she walked into a room.
She loved all of her family very much and her friends. She was always there when anyone needed her, and she loved helping people. She loved that people needed her. She loved being needed and knowing that she was making a difference in someone's day. Enough could never be said for how very special of a woman Bonnie Kay was, just like her mother and her grandmother, but those who knew her, know just how very special.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, William A. Roby; daughter, Robin Lynn Willingham and husband, Bobby; son, Edward A. Roby and wife, Becki; grandchildren, (twins) Sabra Ann Ruth and Jenna Angelia McTaggart, and Jayden Roby; step-grandchildren, Cayla and Nick Bishop and Kaiya Ross; and her very loving sister, Mary Sue Brown.
According to her wishes, Bonnie was cremated; there will be no service per her request.

I am so very sorry for you loss. I've known Bonnie since the third grade at West Side and Allegany. It looks like she had a very large and loving family. She will be missed by her classmates as well.

Robin, I am so sad to hear about your mom. My mom called me this morning and told me and she and my dad send their condolences. Your mom was always so beautiful and you look so much like her. I always remember her smiling. Hugs to you.

I am so sad to read this news about Bonnie. Bonnie and I were such good friends at Wedtsise and Allegany Jr High. I remember skipping school at Allegany and staying at her house on Smallwood Street until her mom came home early and we had to hide until school ended. First and last time for that antic. I know she will be missed by many.
