Caitlyn M. Mattingly Caitlyn M. Mattingly, 18, of Stamm Road, Milton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at UPMC Williamsport, Pa.
Born in Cumberland on March 19, 2000, she was the daughter of Beth (Sibley) Mattingly and Christopher Mattingly.
Caitlyn graduated 10th in her class from Milton High School in 2018, and she was an astrophysics major at Lycoming College. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Lewisburg, Pa. She worked as a partime baker at Bonanza in New Columbia and as a waitress at the Greystone in Milton. Caitlyn was an accomplished trumpeter playing in Milton High School Marching Band where she was first trumpet, and she was a member of the Lycoming College Band. She enjoyed playing "Taps" for the local veteran groups on their special occasions. She also played field hockey in high school, winning the Spirit Award, and she was a writer for the Panther Press. Caitlyn was a member of Physics Club at Lycoming College and was a writer for the Lycourier, the college newspaper. She was an award-winning and talented artist. Caitlyn tried to be friends with everyone, and she was always making a difference with love of all people and animals. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Samuel Mattingly, Milton; sister, Madison Sibley, Maryland; maternal Grammi and Pap-Pap, Marlene and Dave Sibley, Maryland; and paternal Grandma, Debbi Mattingly, Maryland.
Caitlyn was preceded in death by her paternal Granddad, Jeff Mattingly.
Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus, 814 St. Louis St., Lewisburg, on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Mark Wilke officiating.
Friends will also be received Saturday, March 30, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m. for a celebration of life at St. Joseph Parish Center, 854 Cemetery Road, Milton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Caitlyn Mattingly Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Milton Savings Bank, 80 Broadway, Milton, PA 17847.
