Carol "Grammy"'s Story
Carol "Grammy" Ann Stickley, 84, of LaVale, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.
Born July 26, 1933, in Youngstown, N.Y., Mrs. Stickley was the daughter of the late Rev. Carl Dauphin and Jesse (Yungblut) Dauphin. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, C. Martin Stickley Jr., October 26, 2013; a brother, Carl Dauphin; and three sisters, Lois Posavac, Mildred Haenftling, and Jeanne Pfeiffer.
A graduate of Accident High School, Carol also graduated from Catherman's Business School. She was employed with the Garrett County Board of Education at Northern High School as a secretary and was previously employed in purchasing at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL). Carol was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and LaVale Century Club. She was a former member of ABL's Bowling Club and was involved in the PTA at Parkside Elementary School.
Carol is survived by her sons, Cam Stickley and wife, Dennise, Pasadena, and Craig Stickley and wife, Debbie, Sylacauga, Ala.; and her daughters, Nancy Bushby and husband, Eric, Laurel, Kaye McTighe and husband, Shaun, Occoquan, Va., and Amy Hendershot and husband, Jack, LaVale. She also leaves behind her sisters, June Kolb and husband, Bill, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Dorothy Reiter, Cumberland; her grandchildren, Andrea Coulson, Lisa Harrington, Julianne Perretta, Kerrie Stickley, Melissa Willis , Jamie Nguyen, Emily Hendershot, and Jackson Hendershot. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Corey Coulson, Samantha Harrington, Sam Perretta, Christopher Carmichael, and Abigail Perretta.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com), on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Trinity Lutheran Church, 326 N. Centre St., Cumberland, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Ruble officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Hendershot, Jack Hendershot, Dereck Willis, Jordan Perretta, Van Nguyen, and Mark Reiter. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Coulson, Corey Coulson, and Dave Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 326 N. Centre St., Cumberland, MD, or the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care, Activities Department, 901 Seton Drive Ext., Cumberland, MD 21502.
