Cecil George Grove, age 91, of Bowling Green, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born on May 3, 1926, in Avilton, he was the son of the late George Bruce and Pearl Elizabeth (Robeson) Grove. He was preceded in death by Audrey Nigh (Mullendore) Grove, his wife; Gregory Grove, his son; Violet Grove McKenzie, his sister; Austin R. Grove and Harold B. Grove, his brothers.
Mr. Grove was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Air Corps as a sergeant deployed in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Grove retired from the State of Maryland where he worked as a steamfitter.
Cecil was a member of the American Legion Farrady Post 24, Frostburg, and the VFW William D. Byron Post 1936, Hagerstown.
Cecil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in the country.
Mr. Grove is survived by two sons, Kevin Grove and wife, Patty, and Shawn Grove and wife, Tonya; stepchildren, Judy Nigh, Jay Nigh and wife, Judy, and Jim Bowser. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jamie Klink and husband, Loren, Breana Grove, and Abigail Grove; step-grandchildren, David Nigh and Jessica Langlotz and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren, Robert, Ariel, Macala, and Kyleigh; his nephews, Bernard McKenzie, Galen McKenzie, Harold Grove Jr.; and niece, Jeannie Radabaugh.
At his request, his body was cremated. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown.
