Chester "Chet"'s Story
Chester Dale "Chet" Burgess Jr., 39, of Oakland, passed away due to a drowning on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017.
Born Oct. 13, 1977, in Cumberland, Mr. Burgess was the son of Chester Dale Burgess Sr. and wife, Linda, Flintstone. Chet was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Lynn Burgess, Union Bridge; his grandfather, Robert C. Petersen Sr., Cumberland; his grandfather, K. Blaine Burgess, Flintstone; his grandmother, Mae Burgess, Flintstone; and his uncle, Jeffrey Lee Petersen, Cumberland.
Chet attended Fort Hill High School and T. J. High School. He worked various jobs in construction, landscaping, mechanical, and at Denny's Restaurant in Oakland.
Chet was Baptist by faith. He had a generous and loving heart. Those that got to know him, knew him as a good man. His biggest accomplishment and what he was most proud of were his two sons, Ryan and Kai.
Chet is survived by his wife, Linsey; his two sons, Ryan and Kai, Oakland; his sister, Sherry Lynn Hurley and husband, Jim, Martinsburg, W.Va.; his grandmother, Dorothy Petersen, Cumberland; his uncle, Robert C. Petersen Jr., Cumberland; his niece, Brianna B. Hose, Martinsburg; and his nephew, Trey R. Hose, Oldtown.
Chet was cremated upon his request.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at 3 p.m. with his dad, Chester Dale Burgess Sr. officiating.
Interment will be in Flintstone.
