Darrell "Chewy" Bernard Wilhelm, 69, of Keedysville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017.
Born May 16, 1948 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Scott and Laura (Durst) Wilhelm.
Chewy served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army.
He owned and operated his own business, Wilhelm Assisted Living. He had many friends and was well liked by everyone. He was a member of Funkstown American Legion, the Special Olympics Bowling Team, and the Keedysville Ruritan Club.
Chewy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wilhelm; two stepdaughters, Lois Walling and husband, Enoch, and Jacqueline Weller and husband, Kevin; one stepson, Dennis Barthlow and wife Teresa; three grandsons, Harry "Boogie" Hess and wife, Amanda, James E. Walling, and Joshua Weller; and two great-grandchildren, Summer Lynn Walling and Michael James Walling. He is also survived by his brothers, Roger Wilhelm, Steve Wilhelm, Michael Wilhelm, and Wendall Scott Wilhelm and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Beverly Wilhelm, Marilyn Muir, and Carol Beeman; and one brother, Larry Wilhelm.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Al Deal will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at the funeral home.
