David's Story

Waynesboro, PA - David Eugene Shaffer, 65, of Waynesboro, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017.
Born Feb. 2, 1952, in Cumberland, Mr. Shaffer was the son of Helen (Rhodes) Garvin of Florida, the late Edmund Shaffer. He was also preceded in death by a brother; Edmund Shaffer; and a nephew; Ed Shaffer.
David retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration as an Engineering Technician with 32 years of service. He was a former member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Cumberland, and the Church of the Brethren in Frederick. David was an associate member of the Waynesboro American Legion and a lifetime member of the Fort Hill Rifle and Pistol Club. He was also a member of the Catoctin Fish and Game Protective Association, the NRA, and the Moose Lodge, Cumberland.
David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Beverly Shaffer; his daughter, Megan Shaffer and wife, Rachel Fello, Frederick; and his sons, Richie Jones and Jancy Andrade and wife, Mary Cruz, all of Waynesboro. He also leaves behind his granddaughters, Sophia and Abreeh Andrade, and Egliani and Karla Penalver, all of Waynesboro; his brother, Fred Deetz, N. Huntington, and his sisters, Helen Clapp and husband, Richard, Stewartstown, and Hazel Lee Fasnacht and husband, Ken, Palm Coast, Fla. David is also survived by his nephews, Matt Tanner. Ken Fasnacht, Edmund Shaffer, and Shane McLucas; his nieces, Robin Martinez, Kelley Tanner, Melissa Breighner, Sue Lysell, Sarah Jo Smith, Mary Block, Chris Moore, Christine Shaffer, and Katie Stanley as well as other extended family members.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St. Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m., with the Reverend Robert Brennan officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Richie Jones, Jancy Andrade, Jim Armbruster, Paul Fello, Dave Martinez, and Frank Breighner.
