David N. "Dave" Umstot, 54, of Cresaptown passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017, due to a motorcycle accident.
Born in Cumberland on May 22, 1963, he was the son of Floyd and Helen (Barton) Umstot Jr., McMullen Highway, Cumberland.
Dave was a graduate of Fort Hill School class of 1981. Following high school, Dave was employed at the State of Maryland Highway Administration from which he retired. Dave loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle, but his passion was hunting. He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles, Piney Mountain Sportsman Club, Kennells Mills Sportsman Club, and ABATE Motorcycle Club.
In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by his wife of 33 years, Vonda (Dickel) Umstot; his pride, joy, and best friend, his son, David R. Umstot and fiancée, Alex Fram; granddaughter, Karika Umstot; brothers and sisters, Diane Chase and husband Dale, Ft. Ashby, W.Va., Doug Umstot and wife Nadine, Cresaptown, Donnie Umstot and wife Diana, Cumberland, and Dale Umstot and wife Shelly, Atwater, Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Ronda Muir and husband Tony, Cresaptown, and Robin Fugere and husband Roger, McCoole. Dave is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Ladona (Metz) and Donald Dickel, Frostburg, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention. Dave leaves behind his special friend that he regarded as a grandson, Holden Hull.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway S.W., Cresaptown, on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
There will be no formal funeral service.
The family has requested that those wishing to honor Dave's memory may do so by making contributions to Kenny Alkire Foundation.
