Deidre "Dimi"'s Story
CUMBERLAND Deidre "Dimi" Nicol Hess, 21, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Dec. 8, 1996, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Steven and Carol (Montgomery) Hess, of Cumberland.
Deidre was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charles Paul Montgomery and Elaine Elizabeth Montgomery; and her paternal grandparents, Gene Hess and Janet Hess.
Deidre graduated from Allegany High School in 2014. She loved music and sang in the chorus while she attended high school. Deidre also enjoyed drawing and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother who loved her fiancé, Nathaniel Weimer, very much. She was greatly looking forward to marrying him.
At 10 months old, Deidre was given the gift of life when she received a liver transplant. Her family wants to express how important organ donation is, and they encourage anyone who is unsure to become an organ donor.
Deidre is survived by her parents; fiancé and love of her life, Nathaniel Weimer, Hyndman, PA; daughter, Naomie Elizabeth; special friends, Rella, LaVale, and Uncle Ron, Dundalk; and Godparents, Elisa and Bill Partlow, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Deidre's name be made to the Pediatric Oncology Unit at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kimmel Cancer Center, 750 East Pratt Street, Suite 1700, Baltimore, MD 21202, Attention: Stephanie Davis; to the Make a Wish Foundation, Make-A-Wish America, Gift Processing, 4742 North 24th Street, Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016; or to Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. to help the family defray funeral costs.
