Diane Louise Smith, 60, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Frostburg Village Nursing Center.
Born on July 7, 1957, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Smith) Welsh. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law and lifetime friend, Deborah A. Welsh.
Diane was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1975. She was a member of Prosperity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending Fort Hill football games to watch her grandson, playing games, listening to music, and watching movies with her granddaughters. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Diane was a geriatric nursing assistant at Frostburg Village for 20 years, where she took great pride in her work and caring for her patients.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Jimmie L. Smith Sr.; son, Jimmie L. Smith Jr.; daughter, Jamie L. Smith and significant other Derek Young; grandchildren and loves of her life, Braeden, Keana, and Talia; siblings, Gary Welsh and wife, Tammy, Bedford, Pa., Sandra Welsh Harris and husband, Roger, Ridgeley, W.Va., Evelyn "Dolly" Dugan and husband, Brian, Thurmont, Thomas Welsh and wife, Becky, Cumberland, and Charles Welsh and wife, Ginger, Bedford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family thanks all of Diane's co-workers and everyone who has taken care of her at Frostburg Village.
Family will receive friends at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m.
Services will follow immediately at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Glencoe, Pa.
