FRIENDSVILLE Donald Richard "Dickie" Friend, 39, of Friendsville, went to be with Jesus, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Dec. 4, 1977, in Cumberland, he was the son of Donald Lee & Wilma Jean (Lipscomb) Friend, Friendsville.
"Dickie" worked in maintenance at Garrett College and prior to his work at the college, he was a meat cutter for Shop & Save and Country Pride Meats. He was a member of Blooming Rose United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Friend Family Museum.
Along with his parents, "Dickie" is survived by four sisters, Denise Lytle & husband, Buddy, Friendsville, Danita Friend & husband, Gary, Oakland, Debbie Hixon & husband, Jeff, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., and Darla Friend and companion, Steven McClintock, Accident; paternal grandmother, Doris Friend, Friendsville; and his special friend, Donna Wiley.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Blooming Rose United Methodist Church, Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Theodore Bessey officiating.
Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County.
