Donald "Jay"'s Story
STEPHENS CITY, Va. - Donald "Jay" Lee Dicken, 86, of Stephens City, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Born Feb. 11, 1931, in Cumberland, Mr. Dicken was the son of the late John Dicken and Mae (Winterberg) Dicken. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1949, Jay was a United States Naval Reserve Veteran. He was a former employee of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, Civil Defense, and retired from American Woodmark. Jay was a founding member of Sherando Presbyterian Church where he was also an elder. He was a life member of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as past Fire Chief.
Jay is survived by his wife of 67 years, E. June (Nixon) Dicken; his daughter, Donna Corley and husband, John, Cumberland; his son, Jay Dicken and wife, Dania, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rose Wayland officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
