Donald E. Mencer Sr., 83, of Cumberland died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at The Kensington in Cumberland.
He was born March 15, 1934, to the late John R. Mencer Sr. and Beulah M. (Smith) Mencer of Cumberland. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Bertha "Cathy" (Rigney) Mencer in 1995; his only brother, John R. Mencer Jr. in 1990; grandchildren, Joshua A. and Caitlyn A. Mencer; and two nephews, John W. and Richard E. Mencer.
He was a 1953 graduate of Fort Hill High School. Mr. Mencer retired from Thomas B. Finan Center in 1996. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served 17 months in Germany from 1956 to 1958.
He is survived by his first wife, Sue E. Mencer, and his two children, his son, Donald E. Mencer Jr. and his wife, Christine (Thomas) Mencer, grandson, Scott and wife, Jane Mencer, and granddaughter, Kya Mencer; and daughter, Donna Sue (Mencer) Yeager and her husband, Bryan Yeager, grandson, Benjamin Yeager, granddaughter, Nicole Yeager, and one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh.
Mr. Mencer, an organ donor, also donated his body to the Anatomy Board of Maryland.
