Dorothy L. "Tootle" Buckley-Nixon, 94, formerly of Lake Gordon Road, Bedford, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Colonial Courtyard, Bedford.
Born May 31, 1923, in Spring Gap, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Lemuel Caude and Virginia Libby (Clower) Buckley. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Albert "Ray" Nixon; six sisters, Mrytle "Mert" Piper, Bessie Hetrick, Ruth Bishop, Ethel Shyrock, Bertha Everett, Marie Crider, and Georgie Lough; five brothers, Wardney Buckley, James "Jay" Buckley, Homer "Dutch" Buckley, Lemuel Hanley, and Otto "Fooch" Buckley; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A homemaker, Dorothy was a former member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Twigg and husband, Floyd "Butch," Bedford; and her sons, David Nixon, Flintstone, Terry Jay Nixon and wife, Debbie, Bedford. Dorothy is also survived by her granddaughters, Kathy Twigg, Cindy Twigg, Tonya Nixon, Melissa Martin and husband, Danny, Cheryl Nixon, Terri Jean Nixon; and honorary granddaughter, Laura Swain; her grandsons, Jeff Twigg and wife, Rachel, Darrell Twigg and wife, Deneen; and her great-grandchildren, Chelsea Logue, Alexis Twigg, and Derek Crone.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland,(www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Lee Brotemarkle officiating. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
