Dorothy "Dottie"'s Story
CRESAPTOWN Dorothy "Dottie" (Lease) Simpson, 73, of Cresaptown, died Monday, July 17, 2017, at home.
Born Jan. 5, 1944, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Rebecca (Berry) Lease.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Buddy" Simpson; two brothers, Thomas and Billy Lease; two sisters, Mary Ammons and Sandra McDonald; and her uncle, Mannie Lease, who had helped raise her.
Dottie was a graduate of Allegany High School.
For 25 years, Dottie had been a sales representative for AVON products. She was the recipient of many awards with the company.
Dottie belonged to First Baptist Church, Cumberland. She had previously served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She excelled in beautiful ceramic creations. Dottie was well known in her community and loved by all.
Among the survivors are her daughter, Lorie Mae Simpson; two sisters, Betty Metz and Eleanor Gillespie; three nieces, Becky Lowdermilk, Beth McDonald, and Donna Lee; and her constant companion, "Puggle Daisy."
Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church, 212 Bedford St., Cumberland, on Saturday, July 22, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m.
A celebration of life service will follow in the church at 11a.m. with Pastor Randy Durbin, officiating.
