Dorothy "Dottie"'s Story
CUMBERLAND Dorothy "Dottie" Elaine Willison, 79, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at her home.
Born Oct. 20, 1937, in Cumberland, Mrs. Willison was the daughter of the late Bernard Bruce Baker and Martha (Stafford) Baker. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Jane Willison; and two brothers, Ronald and John Baker.
Dottie was a homemaker loving to cook meals and taking care of her family. She attended Catherman's Business School. Dottie loved to work puzzles on her iPad and read about her family on Facebook and Instagram. She enjoyed making quilts and keepsakes for her great grandchildren. Dottie and her husband, Nelson, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November. She very much enjoyed serving her Lord, seeking His will for her life and playing the organ in her church for the last 45 years.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 60 years, J. Nelson Willison Jr.; and her daughters, Doris Wheeler and husband, Geoff, Cumberland, Beverley Bassett and husband, David, Milan, Italy, Carla Lykins and husband, Tim, Harper's Ferry, W.Va., and Beth Langley and husband, John, Austin, Texas. She also leaves behind her sisters, Donna Kahl and husband, George, Mary Kahl and husband, John, and Vicki Sharp and husband, Richard; and her brother, William Baker. Dottie is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel Bassett, Morgan Boone, Michael Bassett, Lauren Munsey, Derek Wheeler, Stephen Bassett, Erin Conway, Robbie Evans, Brandt Lykins, Patrick Evans, Evan Lykins, Thomas Evans, Maura Evans, and Samuel Bassett; as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Calvary Bible church on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Greg Miller officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dottie's name to the Calvary Bible Church, Post Office Box 436, Ellerslie, MD, 21529.
