Dorothy "Mac"'s Story
HARRISONBURG, Va. Dorothy "Mac" Jean Muller, 89, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at her daughter's home in Harrisonburg, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cumberland, on Oct. 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Carl David and Grace Aronholt McIntyre. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Karl Frederick Muller; a special sister, Betty Snyder and a brother, Donald McIntyre.
Mac was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church in Cumberland and worked the voting polls there for many years. She was graduated from the Maryland School for Women and served as the bookkeeper for her father's business, Carl McIntyre Grocery Store. She loved her family, animals, shopping, knitting, sweets and a good Jack and Coke.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Farthing and her husband, Chuck of Harrisonburg; her son, Kurt Muller and his wife, Linda of Freeport, Ill.; five grandchildren, Stephanie Caricofe and her husband, Matt, Valerie Ward and her husband, Jason, Maggie McNeive and her husband, Mike, Chris Muller, Shawn Muller and his wife, Melissa and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
To celebrate Mac's life, she requested everyone sit around the table and enjoy a piece of Red Velvet Cake.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centre Street United Methodist Church or your local animal shelter.
