Dorothy Lee Mellotte, 92, of Ridgeley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 8, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. and Lillian C. Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H. Mellotte Sr.; four sisters, Catherine Shearer, Emma Jean Steirstorfer, Miriam Davis, and Charlotte Hodges; and one brother, Roy E. Smith.
Mrs. Mellotte was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir, and loved to sing, as well as other ministries. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during the World War II era. Mrs. Mellotte worked at several pharmacies over the years and helped Guy Dowling open Hank's Pharmacy in Cumberland, from where she retired.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Ann Bosley and husband, Harry, of Aiken S.C.; three sons, Richard Lee Mellotte and wife, Joan, of LaVale, Franklin Hazelle Mellotte Jr. and wife, Donna, of Ridgeley, and David Michael Mellotte and wife, Deborah, of Ridgeley; a brother, James Smith of Short Gap, W.Va.; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St., Cumberland, on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
