Dorothy Lou Paugh, 89, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Allegany County on Dec.5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Flossie Ellen (Michaels) Fazenbaker. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Loraine Fazenbaker; and sister, Eleanor Mae Fazenbaker.
Dorothy graduated from Bruce High School in 1945. In 1991, she retired from Westvaco after approximately 40 years of service as a secretary in the human resources department. Dorothy volunteered her time to the Red Cross when the prison in Cumberland first opened. She was an active 55-year member of the Cresaptown United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in church functions. In her free time, Dorothy also enjoyed traveling, painting, and playing the piano. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ronald Emerson Paugh, Rawlings, and Rodney Mark Paugh, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Paugh and Wesley Tyler Paugh; and brother, Donald Curtis Paugh, Gettysburg, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway SW, Cresaptown, on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, from 10 a.m. to noon
A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Pastor Hal Atkins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to Cresaptown United Methodist Church, 14805 McMullen Highway SW, Cumberland, MD 21502; or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
