Earl B Shaffer
Born Nov. 12, 1929, in Hyndman, he was a son of the late Claude B. and Nellie Mae (Bruck) Shaffer. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Betty Ours, Mona "Peggy" Atwood, and brothers, John, Bob, and Stephen Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn P. (Burkett) Shaffer, whom he married Sept. 5, 1963; daughter, Ellen Shroyer and husband, Donnie, Hyndman; grandson, Corey Shroyer , Hyndman; siblings, Claude "Jitter" (Linda), Richard "Dick", Douglas "Butch" (Lana) and Glenn "Pug" (Vickie) Shaffer, Wanda Bistline (Les) and Joyce Pensyl (Stanley), Hyndman, and Martha Jane (Jim) Johnston, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Charlotte Shaffer; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Earl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from CSX where he was a machinist. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hyndman Masonic Lodge 589 F&AM; and Hyndman Rod and Gun Club.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home Inc., 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, on Saturday Feb. 16, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Services will follow at noon with the Rev. Ryan Viands officiating.
Burial will be in Madley Cemetery, Buffalo Mills.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that everyone take a day or more and spend with their family.
The family thanks the staff at Allegany Nursing and Rehab for the care they provided.
