Edna Lee (Grapes) Wilson, 85, went home to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Ark.
Edna (Gram) was born on Sept. 17, 1932 in Cumberland. She was the daughter of Elmer Grapes and Evelyn (McCrae) Grapes. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Claire, Helen, Dorothy, and Eleanor; and brother, Sonny. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 50 years, David E. Wilson; and their son, David L. Wilson; daughter-in-law, Robin Ann Wilson; and son-in-law, James R. Steckman, Jr.
Surviving is her son, Alan C. Wilson and his wife Kim, with whom she lived at her passing, Alan's children Zondra, Nathan, and Travis; and daughter Kim F. Steckman and her children Kayleigh, Cody and Allison; and son David's daughter, Trista L. Wilt.
She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Benson; and brother, Richard Grapes; as well as 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and several very special friends that were neighbors at one time or another, and one that made sure she made it to church for several years after she was no longer able to drive.
Edna loved her Lord. She was an inspiration to so many in her role as a wife, mother, mentor and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed her years of raising her children while serving as a Sunday School teacher at Memorial Heights Baptist Church for many years. She also LOVED singing in the choir each Sunday. She later served with her husband at the Cumberland Church of God with her husband Dave as treasurer. During their time at the Church of God, they were instrumental in leading dozens of family members to attend at one time or another. She loved to worship her Lord in song and her devotion to living out her years as a godly woman touched every person she came in contact with.
In the last few years of her life she loved to go go go with her Jeanna; with a Tootsie Pop in her hand, a song in her heart and a smile on her face. Everyone she came in contact with was honey and so pretty and she loved them all.
