Ella "Janie"'s Story
Ella Jane "Janie" Taylor, 89, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 26, 1928, in Charleston, W.Va., Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late Joseph Nader and Dora Lillian (Sykes) Nader. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Cecil L. Taylor; a daughter-in-law, Terrellyn Dorothy Taylor; and a granddaughter, April Nichols.
A graduate of Charleston High School, Janie retired from the General Adjustment Bureau. She and her husband, Cecil, founded the Union Rescue Mission in Cumberland. She spent the majority of her life helping the poor and preaching the gospel, and now she rests in the arms of the Lord. Janie was also a member of Pinto Mennonite Church for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. Dan Taylor and wife, Kristin; her daughter, Janie Shuck and husband, Dennis, of Washington; her sister, Mary Emily Shafer, Charleston; her granddaughters, T. Noelle Kesner, Sarah D. Dunlap and husband, Raymond, Tammy Nichols and husband, Philip, and Karen Huggins; numerous great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Cynthia Shafer and Carla Hebert.
Services will be conducted at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland (www.Adamsfamilyfuneralhome.com), on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Russell Hoffman officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ray Dunlap, Taylor Kesner, John Miller, Steve Liller, David Waugerman, and Kevin Livengood.
