February 26, 1934 - October 21, 2018

Ellen Alderton Fike Ellen Alderton Fike, 84, of White Marsh, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018. Ellen was born on Feb. 26, 1934 in Cumberland to Harry Alderton, and Helen (Twigg) Alderton.
A graduate of her beloved Fort Hill High in 1952, she was a proud majorette. She loved to roller skate and met her future husband, Samuel Walter Fike Jr. at the rink. They wed at Centre Street Methodist Church in Nov., 1952 and then moved to Essex/Middle River, Maryland. There they enjoyed motorcycling, boating, archery, and camping. For a time she worked as a secretary at Sussex Elementary and the Martin Company. She loved her hometown, Cumberland, and regularly visited throughout her life.
They had a child, Mark, in 1961 and moved to White Marsh in 1965 where they lived out their lives. A wonderful mom, she stayed home to raise Mark and led her family to join Middle River Baptist. She enjoyed gardening, taking pictures and traveling the country. Later, she worked at GNC many years. When she became a grandma she doted on her grandchildren whom she adored. Ellen helped start a Baptist church, and served as a Sunday school teacher. She and Walt rediscovered motorcycling and started bowling, but cherishing her family through the years was her passion.
Ellen is predeceased by her parents; her husband Samuel Walter of 57 years; and her brother Edgar L. Alderton.
She is survived by her son Mark Fike and wife Lisa; her grandchildren, Brenda Fike and husband Scott, Janice Fike, Chad Fike and fiancée Brandi, and Robert Lamarr. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jean (Beck) Alderton; nieces and nephews .
Her body will be cremated, but she is already with God.
