Ellsworth Edward "Ding" Deniker, 83, of Burke Hill Road, Rawlings, passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 11, 1934, in Barton, he was the son of the late John Edward and Mary (Mowbray) Deniker. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Deniker and Ruth Donald.
Mr. Deniker was a 1952 graduate of Barton High School. He retired from Westvaco Corp., with an impressive 53 years of service, having worked in the carpenter shop and maintenance. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport. Ding enjoyed camping with his family, and working with his hands, especially carpentry work in which he built his home from the ground up.
Ding was a loving husband, father and grandfather as he leaves behind his wife, Phyllis (Henry) Deniker; a son, Michael Deniker of Westernport; a daughter, Catherine Deniker of Burlington, W.Va.; a brother, John J. Deniker and wife, Shirley, of Lonaconing; two sisters, Juanita Bland of Cumberland, Doris Murphy and husband, Bill, of Barton; a brother-in-law, Carl Donald; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha and Patrick McConnell. He is also survived by grandchild, Candace Marie Lowery; and several other step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Tracy Wilson and Debra Murphy McKenzie.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, 19006 Legislative Road, Barton, on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Parish St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Father Eric Gauchet as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Westernport.
