Emil's Story

Emil Anthony Krampf, 76, of Wiley Ford, WV, formerly of Lexington Avenue, Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Born on October 2, 1941, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Emil Edgar and Mary Jane (Yost) Krampf. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, John Francis Jack Krampf; and his mother and father-in-law, Henry Hank and Pauline Kirk, Wiley Ford.
Emil retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company after 34 years of service. He coached for many leagues throughout his life, including: the Dapper Dan League, the Queen City Lightweight Football League, and the Cumberland area Christian softball league, for which he also played. Emil was a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter #586, and a former member of the Bishop Walsh athletic association. He enjoyed fishing, shuffleboard, duckpin bowling, and camping. He was an avid Redskins and Notre Dame football fan, as well as a Boston Celtics basketball fan. Emil had a great passion for music, and was a member of the Rhythmaires and the Royal Four for many years. Above all, Emil loved to spend time with his family, taking trips to Ocean City, and taking his grandchildren to the park.
Emil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet (Kirk) Krampf, Wiley Ford, WV; daughters, Sherry Hershberger and husband Todd, Massillon, OH, and Rhonda Riggleman and husband Todd, Carpendale, WV; son, Michael Krampf and Kristen Gattens, Carpendale, WV; grandchildren, Ali Donaldson and husband Shawn, Nathan Hershberger, Erin Foutz and husband Ryan, Hallie Mullan and husband Jake, and Jordan Krampf; great-grandchild, Wyatt Donaldson, and two more great-grandchildren on the way.
The family would like to thank Emils sitter, Barbara, as well as two RNs at Potomac Valley Hospice, Marsha and Sheila, for all of the wonderful care they provided Emil.
Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the funeral home, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Noon. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
