Ernest's Story

Ernest Keith Kelly, 87, formerly of McMullen Highway, Rawlings, and most recently of Piney Valley, Keyser, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 9, 1929, in Allegany County, he was the son of the late Allan F. and Thelma (Schramm) Kelly. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Wills.
Ernie was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Meade-Westvaco having been a calendar operator. He was a longtime member of the Westernport Church of the Brethren and a member of Victory Post 155 American Legion.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Carol Lee (Burke) Kelly; a daughter, Terri Kelly and Jimmy Owens of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Erma Landis of McCoole and Allene Sowers of Keyser.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation on Monday, Sept. 18th at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Shimer officiating.
