Ethel Audrey Kienhofer, 98, of Potomac Park, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on Sept. 30, 1919, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Thelma L. (Wilson) Crabtree. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband in 1998, Mr. Frank R. Kienhofer, Sr.; her only grandson, MSP Trooper Frank R. Kienhofer, III; her siblings and their spouses, Wanda and Pete Miller, Olive and Paul Harding, and Wilma and Bernard Lewis.
Ethel was a 1937 graduate of Oldtown High School. She worked for 22 years at the Celanese Fibers Corp on the jet assembly, and also worked for 12 years for Carl and Jane Belt. Ethel was a longtime member of Centre Street United Methodist Church. She loved to do gardening, cooking, baking, and above all, loving and helping all her family, both spiritually and financially.
Surviving are her two sons, Frank R. Kienhofer, Jr. and wife Barbara A. of Baltimore County, and Steven D. Kienhofer of Cumberland; one granddaughter, Daneen Holler; six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Bruce Jr., Ryan, Tiffany, Scott, and Luke; one sister, Janet Trost and husband Otis; one brother, Ronald Crabtree and wife Janice; special niece, Darla Rutherford and husband Frank; special cousin, Barbara Giles; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, on Thursday, June 14, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Harold R. McClay, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
