Genevieve Catherine Browning Stump Genevieve Catherine Browning Stump, 88, of Kearneysville, W.Va., formerly of Cumberland, was called to her heavenly home at her son Terry's home, while surrounded by family and friends, on Aug. 3, 2018.
Genny was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Cumberland, to Ralph and Theresa (Lueck) Seaders. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Cumberland in 1948. The next year, she met and married Vernon Eugene Browning, son of Corbette and Mabel (Milleson) Browning.
Of this loving union, four children were born: Sandy, Jim, Terry, and Bob. Genevieve dedicated her life to being a loving mother and homemaker. She prided herself on cooking and baking for her family, dressing her children for Easter Sunday and providing a loving home. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, painting, and crocheting afghans for her family. Vernon passed away at the age of 40 in 1969. She met and married Jack Stump in 1975 and moved to Inwood, W.Va.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Vernon, her second husband, Jack, her brother, Edward, and one granddaughter, Angela Diane Shearon.
She is survived by daughter, Sandy Shearon, Enid, Okla.; sons, Jim Browning, Inwood, W.Va., Terry Browning and girlfriend, Roxanne Woodward, Kearneysville, and Bob Browning, Meacham, Ore.; grandchildren, Wayne Shearon and Amy Rodgers, Enid, Robert Browning and wife, Tanya, David Browning, and Kevin Browning and wife, Nicole, Midland, Texas; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Ingle and husband, Greg, Lahoma, Okla., John Shearon and wife, Emily, Covington, Okla., Corbett and Delaney Rodgers, Enid, and Drake, Nolan, Taylor, Lexi, Sadie and Carter Browning, Midland; and one great-great-grandchild, Kennedy Ingle, Lahoma.
Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A. ( on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1p.m.
Graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at 2 p.m.
The family extends a special thank you to Hospice of the Panhandle, Home Helpers, and Saint James Church for their care and compassion of our mother.
