CUMBERLAND George Henry "Pork Chop" Collins, 72, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the Allegany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Cumberland, on Feb. 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Russell Johnson and Mary Irene (Heinling) Collins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dot (Brown) Collins; two brothers, Jimmy Collins and wife, Karen, and Ronald Collins and wife, Winnie; two sisters, Betty Kesner and husband, Bill, and June Murphy and husband, Kenneth "Murphy"; brother-in-law, Richard Long and sister-in-law, Ianes Collins.
George worked for the County Road Department until he retired. He was an active member of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene. George enjoyed taking walks, following NASCAR Races, and going to Charlestown Horse Racing track.
George is survived by his sister, Wilma M. Long, Cumberland; brother, Marvin Collins, Cumberland; and God-children, Erika (Collins) Munson and husband, Justin, and Candace Collins and significant other, Ben. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Dayhoff officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Allegany Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave George while he was a resident.
