George Elton Fulk, 87, of Frederick, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Frostburg Village.
Born on Feb. 18, 1930, in Bayard, W.Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Gertrude (Guthrie) Fulk.
Mr. Fulk was a 1948 graduate of Bayard High School. He graduated from Potomac State College, Keyser, W.Va., Berea College, Berea, Ky., and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a master's degree in bacteriology.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was employed at Fort Detrick with the Biological Warfare Program and later with the Frederick Cancer Research Program. Mr. Fulk retired from SAIC-Frederick/National Cancer Institute in 2001. He was a member of the American Legion, Francis Scott Key Post 11.
Surviving are nieces, Karen Howard, Becky Glotfelty and Beth Bomberger; nephews, David Idleman and Harold W. Fulk; nine great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Jean Idleman, and two brothers, Walter and Harold Fulk.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, in Bayard Cemetery, Bayard.
