George's Story

LAVALE - George Lewis Keidel, 84, of LaVale, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Cumberland Healthcare Center.
Born Feb. 8, 1933, in Cumberland, Mr. Keidel was the son of the late George Lewis Keidel and Nellie (Fresh) Keidel. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Scarpelli, Marie Derrico, Margaret Bridges, and Dorothy Martin; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1950, George was a Sergeant and a Radio Repairman with the United States Army during the Korean War and a former employee of A&P Groceries. George and his wife, Anna Mae, owned and operated George's TV Sales and Service for 50+ years until he retired. He was a great husband and father. George and his wife, Anna Mae, loved to travel.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Mae Keidel; his daughter, Debra Hooton and husband, Donald, Fort Worth, Texas; and his sons, George Keidel III, and wife, Karen, LaVale, and Mark Keidel and wife, Leslie, Woodbine. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jennifer Keidel, Cumberland, George Keidel IV, and wife, Beth, Martinsburg, W.Va., Garrett Keidel, and Gregory Keidel, both of Woodbine; his great grandsons, Brooks and Bennett Keidel; his brother-in-law, Ferman Helmstetter and wife, Gloria, Abbottstown, Pa.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. with Deacon John Martin officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, Post Office Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501.
