FLINTSTONE - Geraldine Marie Dixon, 73, of Flintstone, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 8, 1945, in Cumberland, Mrs. Dixon was the daughter of the late Bruce Harrison Shreve and Goldie (Clingerman) Shreve. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Thomas Dixon; and a sister, Deloris Beck.
Geraldine was an employee of Wal-Mart for 18 years. She was a member of the Glendale Church of the Brethren and a life-member of the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary having served as past President. Geraldine was also past President of the Allegany and Garrett County Volunteer Fire Association Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in the PTA and the Booster Club for the Flintstone School. In 1989, Geraldine was recognized for Maryland's Most Beautiful Person Award for her volunteer work. She was also a member of the Allegany County Board of Elections.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, Michael Dixon, Timothy Dixon, Thomas Dixon, and DeWayne Dixon and wife, Debbie, all of Flintstone. She also leaves behind her sisters, Shirley Burchick and husband, Bob, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Blondie Jones and husband, Chuck, Cumberland; and her brother, Bill Shreve and wife, Nancy, Flintstone. Geraldine is also survived by her grandchildren, Mathew, Dylan and wife, Hannah, Daniel, Douglas, Benjamin, Joshua, and McKayla; her great granddaughter, Molly Grace; and her very close friends, Janet Smith, Virginia Kellogg, and Pam Emerick.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, from 3 to 5 p.m.
A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. with Reverend Richard Ketterman officiating.
Interment will be in Glendale Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
