Gloria Jean "Glo" Beckwith, 71, of Patterson Creek Rd., Burlington, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born on Nov. 27, 1945, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Clifford) Mills. She also was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charlie Clifford.
A 1963 graduate of Petersburg, W.Va., High School, Mrs. Beckwith was a homemaker and was a member of Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel, Keyser, W.Va., where she taught Sunday school for more than 25 years and was also a member of the choir for many years. She loved reading romance novels, coloring, playing Phase 10 and watching old Westerns. She always had a smile on her face and had a contagious laugh. She will be sadly missed by many.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Daniel E. Beckwith Sr.; six children, Daniel Beckwith Jr. and wife, Rackell, of Winchester, Va., Yolonda Spriggs of New Bern, N.C., Darin Beckwith of Winchester, Dwayne Beckwith and wife, Tammy, of Keyser, Yarletta Santiago of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Youra Greenwalt and husband, Julian, of Moorefield, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Mariah Spriggs, Tyrell and Tehya Beckwith, Crescenda Beckwith, Rachel and Rebecca Beckwith and Christopher, Cassandra and Cameron Santiago; and two great-grandchildren, Alana Spriggs and Jassiah Loudin. Also surviving are two stepbrothers, Harry Mills Jr. and Eddie Mills; a special cousin, Clara Elaine Davis of Keyser; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Bonnieview Apostolic Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at 5 p.m. with Pastor Robert Fazzalore and the Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Williamsport, W.Va., at a later date.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Genesis Nursing Home in Romney, W.Va., Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser, Potomac Valley Hospital, Winchester Medical Center, and the ICU Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital for their caring and kind compassion through a very difficult time.
