FLINTSTONE Harold Burton Johns Sr., 83, of Flintstone, passed away Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017.
Born Jan. 15, 1934, in Crawford, W.Va., Mr. Johns was the son of the late Jesse Johns and Opal (McCartney) Johns. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Johns.
A graduate of Buckhannon High School, class of 1953, Harold was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War Conflict. He was a woodworker and a man of many trades. Harold worked for the Allegany County Board of Education and retired from Allegany Community College.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Ruth (Reed) Johns; and his children, Cornelia Cooley and husband, Willis, Greencastle, Pa., Donnis Temple and husband, Dicky, Hornbeck, La., Harold Johns Jr., and wife, Mary, Columbia, Malinda Hardcastle and husband, Randy, North Richland Hills, Texas, and Teresa Snyder and husband, Douglas, Little Orleans. He also leaves behind his brothers, Howard and Nelson Johns, both of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Michael Johns, Nitro, W.Va.; his sisters, Francis Stewart, Denver, N.C., and Dorothy Koert, Buckhannon; as well as 13 grandchildren, five step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 19 step great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Friends will also be received at Poling St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at Poling St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Heavner Cemetery, Buckhannon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department, Post Office Box #105, Flintstone, MD 21530.
