FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Helen Mae Watson, 91, of Fredericksburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Watson was born Nov. 21, 1925, in Cumberland, to John and Erma Close Kreiling. After graduating from Frostburg State College with a teaching degree she taught elementary school. The majority of her career she was a second grade teacher at Ferry Farm Elementary where she had a positive impact on so many students. She is fondly remembered by her family as having a great sense of humor and a tremendous giving spirit.
Mrs. Watson was a charter member of Ferry Farm Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 50 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim Owens (Marv); grandson, Matthew Owens (Michaela); brother, Jack Kreiling (Betty); nieces, Linda Koch (Stuart), Cindy Weaver (Eddie), Beth Meuller (Derek); grand-niece, Renee Embrey (Lee); and nephew, David Kreiling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Watson; and brother, Jim Kreiling.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Frostburg Memorial Park in Frostburg.
