KEYSER, W.Va. Dr. Henry S. Falkowski, 66, of James Street, Keyser, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on Oct. 8, 1951, at Nanticoke, Pa., he was the son of the late Henry L. and Katherine (Yuhas) Falkowski.
Dr. Falkowski received his associate degree from Luzerne County, PA Community College, his bachelors degree from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and his masters degree in Analytical/Physical Chemistry and doctorate in Chemistry Education from West Virginia University. He was the senior chemistry professor at Potomac State College of West Virgina University for the last 41 years where he also served as the Campus Chair of Chemistry, Chemical Hygiene Officer and Campus Safety Manager.
Roman Catholic by faith, he was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, North Carolina Aquarium Society, National Science Teachers Association, WV Academy of Science and the International Naval Research Organization. He also was a consultant to the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial in Wimington, N.C., a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists and was a member of the Titanic Historical Society.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Theresa G. "Terry" (Harman) Falkowski; his sister, Elaine Zupko of Nanticoke; his mother-in-law, Patricia Harman of Petersburg, W.Va.; a niece, Elaina Smith of Reading, Pa., and a nephew, Jeffrey Zupko of Nanticoke.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lauren Godwin officiating.
Interment will be in the Harman-Bland Cemetery, Onego.
