Henry E. Tice, 86, of Grantsville, was ushered into the glories of heaven on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at his residence.
Born Nov. 7, 1930, in Elk Lick Twp., Pa., he was the son of the late Eli D. and Mary (Yoder) Tice. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Kinsinger Beachy and Sara Tice; five brothers-in-law, Alvin Beachy, Eli Kinsinger, Ernest Beachy, Sanford Bender and Brenice Wolfe.
As a teenager, Henry recognized that he was a sinner and he trusted in the blood of Christ for atonement of his sins. From that point on, he committed his life to seek and follow the will of God.
Henry was a dairy farmer who was liked and respected by all who knew him. He was a member of Mountain View Mennonite Church where he also served as a co-pastor for 32 years. Henry served as a Mountain View School Board member, as well as school pastor for many years.
As Henry aged, he looked for additional ways to serve the Lord and others. He served as a taxi for his Amish friends and neighbors. He also volunteered at the State Correctional Institution in Somerset, where he assisted with weekly Bible studies and chapel services. In 2006, he was given the SCI Somerset Volunteer of the Year Award. He also graded Bible courses for inmates through the Gospel Echoes Prison Ministries and was active in grading courses until the day God called him home.
He will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Marie (Beachy) Tice; six sons, Kenneth D. (Carol) Tice, Salisbury, Philip J. (Charlotte) Tice, Gerald W. (Loretta) Tice, David N. Tice, Timothy E. (Jencene) Tice and Daniel G. (Darla) Tice, all of Grantsville; two daughters, Dorothy L. (Galen) Beitzel, Grantsville, and M. Ruth (Joe) Overholt, Minerva, Ohio; five sisters, Lena Beachy, Verda Tice, Martha Beachy and Rachel Wolfe, all of Grantsville, Miriam Bender, Bittinger; 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
