Jack Daniel Davis went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Jack, who was a unique special soul, was born May 25, 1934, in Coketon, W.Va. Before residing at Frostburg Village, he lived at home in Rawlings with his sister, Jessie Johnson.
Jack loved church and singing hymns. He was a member of Rawlings United Methodist Church. Before becoming immobile, Jack attended Sunday school and church on a regular basis and was awarded 42 straight years of attendance pins. Jack enjoyed being the bell ringer for church services. He also loved fishing, watching western shows, singing, and riding his bike. He always had a smile and a knack for making people feel comfortable during difficult circumstances.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, George Walter and Olive Cloe Davis. He was extremely close to his mother and is now home with her. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Davis, Arlie "Tommy" Davis, and his twin, Joseph Wesley Davis; and a sister, Gail Elena Gross and husband, William.
Jack is survived by his brother, George Davis and wife, Carol, Cumberland; his sisters, Jessie Johnson, Rawlings, Daisy Loar and husband, William, Newburg, and Alma Kendall and husband, Jerry, Cresaptown; sister-in-law, Susan Davis, Rawlings; and many special nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 19, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Jack's nephew, Pastor Gerald Hancock officiating.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas, W.Va.
