In loving memory- Jack R. White, 77, son of the late Adair F White and L Loritta White, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at his home in Lakewood, N.J.
Jack is survived by his wife, Debra A. White of Lakewood; his brother, Ronnie White of Cumberland; Gail White of New Jersey; his daughters, Joyce White Lyons and husband, Cormac, of Minnesota, and Jacquelyn White of Florida; his sons, Jason R. White of New Jersey, Russell J. White of New Jersey; and grandchildren, Lola, Liam and Yaw.
Jack was born in Terra Alta, W.Va., grew up in Cumberland, and spent the largest part of his life residing in Point Pleasant, Brick, and most recently, Lakewood.
Jack graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1958 and played on Coach Bill Hahn's undefeated football team.
Jack attended Potomac State College where he played football under Coach 'Horse' Lowe. Jack played football for and was graduated from Shepherd College, W.Va., with a bachelor of science degree in physical education.
Jack taught driver's education and physical education in New Jersey for 27 years. He was a former scout for the Indianapolis Colts. Jack coached an undefeated, state-championship football team with only 16 players. His soccer teams won 55 consecutive games. Jack was a gifted coach and teacher who motivated and mentored his players and students instinctively. His influence on his students was profound, and he will not be forgotten.
Jack loved adventure and people. He held his private pilot's license, golfed, scuba dived, skied, hunted and greatly enjoyed any time spent outdoors with family and friends.
So wipe your tears. For those of you who knew Jack, there are many happy times, bright smiles and funny days filled with laughter to remember.
