CUMBERLAND Jake J. LaFave, 25, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, as a result of fatal injuries sustained at his job as a CSX railroad conductor.
He was born April 30, 1992, in San Antonio, Texas, to James E. and Kathy (Mancuso) LaFave. Jake was baptized at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Hobart, Ind.
He graduated from Pinckney High School, Michigan, in 2011. He then went on to study Computer Systems and Networking at Washtenaw Community College, Michigan.
Throughout his childhood, Jake enjoyed many different activities: baseball, soccer, roller hockey, and boy scouts before he found his true passion on the swim team and in the band.
As an adult, Jake enjoyed spending time with those he loved most, working on electronics, playing video and card games, and road trips.
Jake is survived by his wife, Caitlin (Blough) LaFave of Cumberland, whom he recently married in March, 2017; his parents, James E. and Kathy and sister, Shae LaFave of Jessup.
He also leaves behind his grandparents, Bud and Beverly Mancuso and James A. and Marcia LaFave of Alpena, Mich.; and many loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A public memorial service will be held at the Blough Residence, 9833 Turkey Creek Road, Easton, MD 21601 on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 7 p.m.
Family and friends are invited to Jake and Caitlin's home at 12922 N. Cresap St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. to share stories and offer condolences.
