ELLERSLIE James "Jim" David Davis, 78, of Ellerslie, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Frostburg Village Nursing Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Edna L. (Schell) Davis.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Richard, and John Davis; and two sisters, Vivian and Jean Davis.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1960.
Mr. Davis was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, having been a tire builder. He also retired from the State of Maryland with the Juvenile Justice program.
Mr. Davis belonged to Ellerslie United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed being a Hot Stove League coach for the Ellerslie teams and a Boy Scout Troop leader.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; three children, Gregory Michael Davis, Victoria Lee Davis, and Michael James Davis; two grandchildren, Christopher Davis and Kateland Davis and fiancé, Mitch Wilson; three brothers, Ronald Davis and wife, Bonnie, Billy Davis, and Paul Davis and wife, Betty; one sister, Shirley Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Cline, Nellie Fryer, Joan Frame and husband, Johnnie, and H.B. Martz and wife, Chrissy; and, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m with Rev. Rebecca Vardiman, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
