James Thomas Rebar, 76, of Goose Creek S.C., formally of Westernport, completed his tour of duty here on earth, Jan. 17, 2018, and reported for duty in Heaven.
Born July 19, 1941, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Frederick Rebar and Mary (Flynn) Rebar. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Florence; two brothers, Stanley and Frederick; and a sister, Joanna Bever.
He is survived by a sister, Josephine Paugh of Keyser, W.Va.; and a brother, Robert and wife Lydia of Oceanside, Calif. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim served our nation in the United States Navy for over 20 years, after which he received and Honorable Discharge and retired from active duty. In 1968-1969, he served on swift boats in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam. He and his wife eventually settled in Goose Creek, S.C. He was a lifetime member of his local American Legion Post 0166.
The memories of his visits to family were such good times, and will be forever etched into our hearts and minds. Good bye for now Jim!
His remains were cremated at his request and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
